Zen Golf: Mastering the Mental Game

The best players know that golf is a game of confidence, and most important, concentration–the ability to focus and block out distraction. The goal of achieving clear thought is also at the heart of Buddhist teachings. In his highly original and groundbreaking book, noted PGA coach and Buddhist instructor, Dr. Joseph Parent, draws on this natural connection and teaches golfers how to clear their minds, achieve ultimate focus, and play in the moment for each shot.

Golf Clubs Set - Tips on How to Choose a Set of Golf Clubs

Whether you are a newbie or a professional, having the right golf clubs set is essential to have an enjoyable and quality game of golf. Of course, aside from your skills, the properties and specifications of golf clubs are your partners when it comes to executing a game of golf on the course. So if you are aiming to buy a new set, particularly if you are a beginner, there must be certain pointers you have to stick to. These pointers are what would guide you to achieve and avail of nothing but the perfect set for yourself. And to get you started, here they are:

1.COST CONSIDERATION. The process of making golf clubs is very pricey, so I must warn you that a golf clubs set in general can be expensive. If you are willing to spend quite a fortune for your set, then you should go for brand new units, as you can assure quality immediately. However, if you would like to be careful with your hard-earned money, then it is better to start out with secondhand clubs first.

2.TYPES AND PIECES. Once you have decided whether you are going for a brand new or secondhand set, you can now proceed to determine what would be included in the set that you are looking for. A typical set is composed of 14 clubs. But since you are still in the beginning stage, you can start out with only half of this. Just make sure that you don't miss out on the most important clubs. What are these? The main clubs are the irons (either in cast or forged) so pick them out first.

3.HEAD GEAR. For the head of the clubs, the material is the most important to look into. And what are your choices for this? You can go for titanium, cast iron, or stainless steel. But again, since you are still staring out, might as well go with the easiest to use and master: titanium head. It has the lightest feel so you wouldn't have a hard time navigating it. However, it can be more expensive.

Although you are very excited to get into playing golf, you must not be in a hurry when buying a set of golf clubs. Remember, a big portion of the quality of your game lies mainly on the quality of the golf clubs set that you use.
